Straight answers.
Does it cost anything to ask?
No. Asking, and a first look at which grants may fit, commits you to nothing. Work starts only after you review and sign our terms.
Is a grant a loan? Do we have to pay it back?
No. A grant is not borrowed money and there is nothing to repay. You do take on responsibility: spend the money on what was approved, keep the receipts and purchasing records, and report back to the funder. Money spent outside the approved scope can be asked back.
Is it random who gets picked?
No. Most government grants are scored. Reviewers work from a published rubric and give points section by section: your need, your project plan, your budget, your timeline.
Knowing what each section asks for, and answering it fully, is where an experienced writer helps. We know the eligibility, formatting and document rules of the programs we work on, because we work inside them every round.
Do we get the money upfront?
It depends on the funder. Many government grants pay you back after you spend: you pay the vendor, send the paperwork, and the agency reimburses you. Many foundation grants pay in advance or in installments. We tell you how a specific grant pays before you commit to anything.
We've never received a grant before. Are we at a disadvantage?
Not usually. Some programs give extra points or a preference to organizations that have not been funded before, and reviewers care more about a real, well-documented need than about your funding history. Never having applied is not a mark against you.
What if we don't get the award?
Nobody can promise an award: the agency or the foundation decides, and anyone who guarantees one is promising something they can't deliver. What we can promise is a complete application, filed on time and written to the program's criteria, with your registrations in place for the next round.
